CBP CUSTODY DEATH AT BLAINE PEACE ARCH POE; OPR AND DHS OIG LAUNCH REVIEWS
CBP says a man died while in custody at the Blaine Peace Arch Port of Entry on Sept. 20, 2025, after being restrained and moved to secondary inspection; officers initiated CPR and EMS later pronounced him dead. A preliminary autopsy noted major artery blockage; toxicology and full findings are pending. CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility is reviewing the incident and DHS OIG has been notified.
