TRUMP FORCES MEXICO TARIFF EXTENSION TO CONTROL BORDER SECURITY

President Donald Trump has granted Mexico a 90-day extension to negotiate a trade deal with the U.S., delaying the imposition of a 30% tariff. This decision follows a successful phone call with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. Under the extension, Mexico will continue existing tariffs on fentanyl, cars, steel, aluminum, and copper, and has eliminated non-tariff trade barriers. Trump emphasized continued cooperation on border security, addressing drugs, drug distribution, and illegal immigration into the United States. This move reverses his earlier stance of not extending the August 1st deadline, while other U.S. trading partners will face higher tariffs.
