NYT-SIENA POLL: 52% BACK TRUMP DEPORTATION PLAN—EVEN AS MANY CALL ENFORCEMENT ‘TOO FAR’
A NYT/Siena poll (Sept. 22–27, n=1,313 RVs) finds 52% support Trump’s policy of deporting immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, unchanged since April. Opposition at 24% has eased, with independents split and 95% of Trump 2024 voters supportive. Demographic splits persist (higher support among whites; higher strong opposition among women, Hispanics, non-white college grads). Paradoxically, a slim majority says enforcement has gone “too far” or is “mostly unfair,” while still backing tougher deportation policies.
