New Economist/YouGov polling finds Americans evenly split on deporting undocumented immigrants with no other crimes (41% stay vs. 40% deport), while confidence in ICE remains weak: 38% have no confidence, 26% express a great deal of confidence. Majorities support requiring ICE officers to wear uniforms (67%) and oppose identity‑hiding masks during arrests (52%). The results reinforce a broader transparency/accountability debate around ICE tactics highlighted since July.
