$1M IMMIGRATION SCAM EXPOSED AS CHESTER COUNTY WOMAN CLAIMED TO BE ATTORNEY

A 65-year-old Chester County woman, Fatima DeMaria, has been charged with asylum and mail fraud for allegedly running a $1 million immigration scam. DeMaria, operating Immigration Matters Legal Services, is accused of falsely representing herself as an immigration attorney to undocumented residents, promising to help them obtain work permits. She allegedly prepared fraudulent asylum forms with false statements without clients' knowledge, charging significant fees for these services. Clients were reportedly unaware that rejected applications could lead to removal proceedings. The ongoing investigation seeks additional victims, and DeMaria faces substantial prison time and fines if convicted.
