COLOMBIAN NATIONAL ADMITS TO MASSIVE ASYLUM FRAUD SCHEME

Carlos Adolfo Haeckermann Cardenas, a Colombian national, admitted to orchestrating a fraudulent asylum application scheme in federal court. Operating initially in Colombia, then the U.S., he guided clients in deceiving immigration officers. Four counts involved fabricated political persecution stories for asylum applications between 2019-2020. Haeckermann could face up to 40 years in prison.
