DHS Black Hawk And CBP Choppers Blanket Portland ICE Office; FAA Restricts Airspace, FBI Probes Laser, 4 Detained
Federal aviation assets, including a DHS Black Hawk and CBP H125, have repeatedly circled Portland’s ICE field office amid protests, prompting a spike in noise complaints and an FAA temporary flight restriction over South Portland through Oct. 17. Portland police also flew support aircraft. The FBI is investigating a laser aimed at a CBP helicopter; a search warrant led to ICE detaining four people alleged to be in the U.S. illegally. The activity coincides with a federal push to bolster protection of the ICE facility as Oregon leaders challenge potential Guard deployment.
