DOJ Task Force Charges Alleged Oct. 7 Fighter With U.S. Visa Fraud After Year In Country

Federal prosecutors allege Mahmoud Amin Ya’qub al-Muhtadi, tied to the National Resistance Brigades during the Oct. 7 attack, obtained a U.S. immigrant visa by lying on an application filed in Cairo. A criminal complaint in the Western District of Louisiana says he coordinated fighters on Oct. 7 and later entered the U.S. on Sept. 12, 2024, living in Oklahoma and Louisiana. The case is linked to a DOJ task force targeting Oct. 7-related offenders; an initial court appearance is set before a magistrate judge.
