FAMILY TAKES ON ICE: DEATH SPARKS LEGAL BATTLE OVER RAID

The family of Jaime Alanís Garcia, a farmworker who died following an immigration raid at a Camarillo cannabis farm, has filed a federal court claim seeking accountability from ICE. Their attorneys allege illegal search and seizure and excessive force, stating Alanís Garcia fell 30 feet while potentially fleeing federal agents, leading to his death two days later from a broken neck and skull. The claim seeks damages for pre-death suffering, medical expenses, lost earnings, and funeral costs, while his wife and daughter pursue a wrongful death action. Mexico's President is also considering legal action regarding the migrant's death. ICE has stated that Alanís Garcia was not pursued and fell while climbing to the roof of a greenhouse.
