ICE Agents In Stanford Hospital Spark Protest; Patient Discharged To Mesa Verde Detention

Roughly 150 Stanford healthcare workers, students, and community activists rallied outside Stanford Hospital after ICE agents were seen guarding a patient’s room and moving within treatment areas. The patient, Aleyda Yenysey Rodriguez, fainted during her Aug. 25 arrest in East Palo Alto, was treated at Stanford, then discharged and transferred to the Mesa Verde detention facility. Family and clinicians allege restricted visitation and question whether she was fit for discharge. Protesters demand Stanford bar federal agents from patient areas, apologize to the family, and hold a town hall on hospital policies; Stanford says it provides care while complying with federal directives.
