ICE Arrests 1,406 In Second Massachusetts 'Operation Patriot' Surge; FBI, CBP, U.S. Marshals Assist

ICE says its September "Operation Patriot 2.0" surge across Massachusetts resulted in 1,406 arrests, including more than 600 people with significant criminal charges or convictions and 277 with prior removal orders. The multiagency operation involved ICE, FBI, CBP, and U.S. Marshals and targeted alleged gang members and individuals accused of violent crimes. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons blamed local sanctuary-style policies, while Gov. Maura Healey and Mayor Michelle Wu defended state and city approaches and public safety records.
