REP. HOYLE TOURS EUGENE ICE OFFICE AS PROTESTS ESCALATE; 5 ARRESTED, PEPPER SPRAY DEPLOYED

Oregon Rep. Val Hoyle met with ICE leaders at the Eugene Federal Building, toured short-term holding rooms, and discussed due process and local enforcement priorities. She said Eugene detentions target people accused of crimes and that larger sweeps originate from Portland. The visit follows weeks of protests at the site, including 5 arrests and pepper spray used by federal officers this week; Hoyle plans to visit the Tacoma Northwest Detention Center where Eugene detainees are sent.
