ICE Blasts Washington 'Sanctuary' Laws After Four-Time Deported Migrant Convicted In Tacoma Murder

ICE publicly criticized Washington’s sanctuary policies after Jerry Espana-Davila — a Mexican national who had been deported four times — was convicted of murdering a Tacoma auto dealer. Prosecutors say Espana-Davila stalked the victim and surveillance and other evidence tied him to the Feb. 19, 2024 shooting; he faces a possible life sentence. ICE framed the case as evidence that local noncooperation and lax border enforcement endanger public safety.
