ICE DEPORTATION FLIGHTS HIT RECORD: 1,393 IN AUGUST — 34% SURGE UNDER TRUMP

New data from Human Rights First’s ICE Flight Monitor shows the Trump administration averaged about 45 ICE flights per day in August 2025, the highest monthly total since tracking began. From Jan. 20 to Aug. 31, at least 7,454 enforcement flights occurred—a 34% increase over 2024—with roughly 240 international removal flights in August alone. Domestic “shuffle” transfers spiked alongside expanding detention capacity, and removal destinations broadened to include newly recorded countries such as Greece and Pakistan. DHS defends standards of care while advocates warn of due process and human-rights risks during long, multi-leg flights with shackling.
