ICE Enforcement Hits Alabama Construction: 46% Of Firms Affected, Projects Delayed

A new AGC/NCCER survey finds 90% of Alabama contractors struggling to fill openings, with 46% reporting direct or indirect impacts from immigration enforcement in the past six months. Thirteen percent cited ICE agent visits and 29% said workers left or no‑showed due to enforcement activity. Only 12% use H‑2B or other temporary visas. Industry leaders urge expanded legal pathways and more workforce training to curb delays and rising costs on construction projects.
