ICE Guards Patient at Stanford Hospital as Protesters Rally; California Bill Moves to Bar Agents from Care Areas

Aleyda Rodriguez, who fainted during an ICE arrest, spent several days under ICE custody while receiving treatment at Stanford Hospital, where family visitation was later restricted and federal agents guarded her room. Protesters and about 150 healthcare workers rallied outside Stanford demanding hospitals limit ICE presence. The demonstration coincided with a California bill authored by Sen. Jesse Arreguín that passed the legislature to limit ICE access to healthcare facilities and now heads to the governor’s desk. Stanford Health says it will comply with federal law enforcement directives while providing care.
