HSI Newark’s investigation led Treasury’s OFAC to sanction eight Mexican individuals and 12 Mexico-based companies tied to the Sinaloa Cartel’s Los Chapitos for supplying fentanyl precursor chemicals and logistical support into the U.S. Sumilab, S.A. de C.V. was designated for providing and shipping precursors to cartel associates. ICE says the move targets the cartel’s financial and supply networks through interagency action, complementing recent precursor seizures and prior sanctions.
