An ICE officer fired twice at a Honduran national’s SUV on a Phoenix freeway after the vehicle began to pull away in the officer’s direction during a pre-dawn stop, according to ICE. The driver, identified as Jose Garcia-Sorto, and the officer were taken to hospitals; the driver was in stable condition. The FBI’s Phoenix Field Office is leading the investigation as ICE cites a sharp rise in assaults, including vehicle rammings, against its officers.
