ICE Pepper-Sprays Protesters, Hits Reporter After Asylum-Seeker Arrest Near SF Immigration Court

ICE agents in downtown San Francisco used batons, tasers, and pepper gel while moving an asylum-seeker from immigration court to the 630 Sansome St. field office on Aug. 20, 2025, pepper-spraying protesters and a reporter and detaining at least one demonstrator. The confrontation follows earlier August detentions of protesters outside the same facility and adds to a pattern of post-hearing arrests of asylum-seekers clustered along the SF court-to-ICE HQ corridor.
