Navy Tapped To Contract $10B ICE Soft-Sided Detention Centers; Utah Among 6 States

CNN-linked reporting says DHS plans large soft-sided ICE detention centers that could house up to 10,000 people each, with construction beginning as soon as next month in Utah, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania. The U.S. Navy’s Supply Systems Command would act as a contracting arm for DHS/DoD, hiring companies to build and maintain facilities. DHS funding is reportedly around $10 billion.
