SF Drag Artist Arrested At ICE Check-In Alleges Abuse At Golden State Annex; Granted Asylum
San Francisco drag artist Hilary Rivers says she was arrested by ICE at a routine immigration appointment during Pride month and spent three months in detention at Golden State Annex, where she alleges freezing, overcrowded conditions and sexual abuse. She was granted asylum in September and local queer and Latine groups are organizing a Nov. 7 benefit to help her recover from injuries and losses suffered during detention.
