Tampa Bay Sheriffs Seek $1.9M For 287(g) Enforcement: Detention Beds, Officer Bonuses In Florida ICE Push

Sheriff’s offices in Tampa Bay requested about $1.92 million in state grants tied to Florida’s 287(g) program, led by Polk County’s $1M request largely for detention beds. Pinellas, Sarasota, Hernando, Pasco and Hardee also sought funds for beds, transport, equipment and officer bonuses. The grants flow through Florida’s State Board of Immigration Enforcement and align with ICE’s ~$38M award to Florida supporting 287(g) partnerships.
