TRUMP ADMIN'S 'CONTINUOUS VETTING' REVIEWS 55M VISA HOLDERS — THOUSANDS OF VISAS REVOKED, INCLUDING ~6,000 STUDENTS

Senior Trump administration officials have launched a broad "continuous vetting" effort that reviews records for roughly 55 million current visa holders worldwide, drawing on tax, healthcare, criminal and migration databases as well as social media. The State Department says it will revoke visas when post-issuance information indicates ineligibility, citing overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, or ties to terrorism. The administration has already revoked thousands of visas, including about 6,000 student (F-1) visas, and officials are shortening or cancelling multi-year visitor visas. Agencies including DHS, USCIS and ICE are sharing data to speed revocations, denials, and deportations and to add extra vetting steps for naturalization. Civil liberties advocates and some experts warn the expanded monitoring and cross-agency data sharing risk due-process and free-expression concerns while potentially sweeping in many lawful visitors.
