UChicago Professor Charged With Felonies After Anti-ICE Clash At Broadview Center As ‘Midway Blitz’ Escalates

University of Chicago associate professor Eman Abdelhadi was arrested Oct. 3, 2025 and charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a government employee and two counts of resisting/obstructing a peace officer tied to clashes at protests outside ICE’s Broadview, IL processing center. The charges come amid weeks of demonstrations and confrontations with federal agents as Operation Midway Blitz ramps up ICE activity in the Chicago area. Abdelhadi was released after an initial appearance and is due back in court Tuesday.
