USCIS Issues 26,700 Notices To Appear Since February; 1,840 A Week As Agency Backs ICE Operations

USCIS says that following Feb. 28 guidance, it has initiated removal proceedings for more than 26,700 individuals by generally issuing Notices to Appear after unfavorable benefit decisions. The agency reports about 1,840 NTAs per week, sharp increases in fraud-related NTAs, and roughly 500 asylum- and 100 TPS-related NTAs weekly, while providing personnel support to ICE operations. USCIS frames the policy as an enforcement pivot restoring prior practices, with limited prosecutorial discretion maintained.
