Irish Minister: 90% Of Children Missing From Tusla Care Are Asylum-Seeking Minors; Gardaí, Interpol Involved In Tracing
Ireland’s Children’s Minister Norma Foley says 31 children were reported missing from Tusla care as of Nov. 6, 2025, and 28 of them (about 90%) were separated children seeking international protection. Some unaccompanied minors travel onward to join family abroad and are still counted as missing if they don’t update Tusla; Gardaí are notified and may liaise with Interpol. Foley has ordered a review of Tusla’s recording practices and joint protocols to ensure more accurate data and better safeguarding.
