LONDON DEPLOYS 1,600 POLICE FOR RIVAL IMMIGRATION PROTESTS; TOMMY ROBINSON MARCH SET, BARRIERS UP

London’s Metropolitan Police will deploy around 1,600 officers, including 500 from other forces, as rival rallies over immigration are set to converge on Whitehall. A march organized by anti-Muslim activist Tommy Robinson will face a counter-protest by Stand Up To Racism, with barriers erected to separate the groups. Police say they will facilitate lawful protest while acting robustly against offenses. The build-up comes amid record asylum claims, 28,000+ small‑boat arrivals this year, and follows nearly 900 arrests at a separate London protest last week.
