Poland To Hike Citizenship Wait: Residency Jump To 8–10 Years, Loyalty And Integration Tests

Poland plans to significantly tighten pathways to citizenship after a record 16,000 naturalizations in 2024. Proposals would raise residency from three years to 8–10 years and add integration, loyalty, a citizenship test, and tax-residency requirements. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński and Minister of State Magdalena Roguska framed the move as safeguarding national security and cultural identity, with President Karol Nawrocki also backing tougher rules via a separate bill.
