Police and crime commissioners in Northumbria, Cleveland and Durham have produced a two-page leaflet, with the North East Migration Partnership, to counter myths about immigration and asylum in north-east England. The materials will be distributed to libraries and community centres and cite data such as asylum seekers comprising just 0.3% of the regional population. Officials say the aim is to improve public understanding, reduce hate, and support community cohesion amid recent protests.
