DOJ GIVES BOSTON, 30+ ‘SANCTUARY’ AREAS AUG. 19 DEADLINE ON ICE COMPLIANCE

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi notified Boston and other listed “sanctuary” jurisdictions that they have until Aug. 19, 2025, to detail how they will remove policies that impede federal immigration enforcement, referencing a Trump executive order. The DOJ letters did not specify penalties for noncompliance. Boston’s Trust Act restricts police cooperation with ICE on civil immigration matters, a policy city leaders have defended.
