DOJ Sues Minnesota, Minneapolis & St. Paul Over Sanctuary Policies, Says Criminal Migrants Dodge Removal
The Justice Department filed suit against Minnesota, Hennepin County, Sheriff Dawanna S. Witt, AG Keith Ellison, and the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, alleging sanctuary policies obstruct federal immigration enforcement and enable releases of noncitizens convicted of serious crimes. AG Pam Bondi framed the case as a public safety imperative. St. Paul and other local officials defended their separation ordinances as legal and essential to community trust. DOJ notes similar suits against New York, Los Angeles, and Boston as part of a broader campaign.
