DUBLIN 'CITIZEN JOURNALIST' JAILED FOR TARGETING IPAS RESIDENTS — COURT FIRST TO USE International Protection Act

Paul Nolan was convicted under Section 26 of the International Protection Act 2015 and Section 6 of the Public Order Act 1994 after filming and identifying international protection applicants outside an IPAS centre in Tallaght. The court found multiple targeted incidents — including recordings of minors and abusive threats — and described the conduct as repeated, premeditated and disgraceful. Nolan received an effective seven-month sentence, probation conditions, and a ban from IPAS centres.
