Dublin Council Asked To OK IPAS Exemption For Leeson Street Asylum Site
A central Dublin property at 48-49 Lower Leeson Street has housed asylum applicants since early 2023. The managing company, Brother Baghin, has now asked Dublin City Council to confirm a planning exemption specifically for International Protection (IPAS) use. An earlier June application referenced only “homeless persons,” but a notice registered on Sept. 16 explicitly covers international protection applicants, raising questions about retrospective compliance and oversight of asylum accommodation in private sites.
