Federal Judge Blocks Expanded Expedited Removal For Parolees, Pauses Abrego García Deportation

U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb temporarily barred the Trump administration from applying expedited removal to immigrants granted humanitarian parole, citing due-process risks in using fast-track deportations in the interior. The order pauses plans to deport Kilmar Abrego García until at least October and schedules an evidentiary hearing to examine the government’s re-deportation efforts. The ruling follows other July–August judicial decisions that have constrained the administration’s push to expand expedited removal.
