FEDERAL JUDGE HALTS ‘ALLIGATOR ALCATRAZ’: ICE BARRED FROM ADDING DETAINEES, ORDERED TO STRIP EVERGLADES CAMP INFRASTRUCTURE

A federal judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking new intakes at the Everglades detention site dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” and ordered removal of lighting, fencing, generators and waste systems within 60 days after environmental and tribal groups sued. The ruling constrains ICE capacity at the remote camp and signals a potential precedent for similar rapid-build detention sites. Detainees have reported harsh conditions, including heat, mosquitoes and sewage issues.
