Federal Judge Rejects Immunity Bid For Milwaukee Judge In Alleged ICE Obstruction

A U.S. District judge denied Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan’s motion to dismiss federal allegations that she helped an undocumented immigrant evade ICE agents, allowing the case to proceed. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Dugan confronting ICE in a courthouse hallway and allegedly helping the man exit through a back door. Her attorneys argued judicial immunity and separation of powers, but the court found she had not met the burden for absolute immunity. A hearing is set for Sept. 3, and both sides indicated interest in a trial before year’s end.
