HOUSE OKS H.R. 3486 TO BOOST ILLEGAL REENTRY PRISON TERMS — UP TO 15 YEARS FOR REPEAT REMOVALS

The House passed H.R. 3486, the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025, raising criminal penalties for unlawful entry and reentry, including up to 15 years for repeat removals. The bill passed 226–197 with 11 Democrats in support and has backing from President Trump. It now moves to the Republican-controlled Senate as part of a broader GOP push to stiffen immigration-related penalties and protections for enforcement agents.
