JUDGE OKS NEBRASKA PRISON CONVERSION FOR ICE DETAINEES AS LAWSUIT PROCEEDS

A Nebraska judge ruled the McCook Work Ethic Camp can be used to house ICE detainees while a lawsuit over the conversion continues, denying a dismissal sought by the state and declining an immediate injunction from local plaintiffs. The project may proceed for now as the case moves through the courts, with the governor’s office targeting an operational date around Nov. 1. Nebraska Appleseed says it will continue litigating the case.
