JUDGE ORDERS DHS TO REOPEN TPS PORTAL AFTER OUTAGE BLOCKS VENEZUELAN RE-REGISTRATION

U.S. District Judge Edward Chen ordered DHS to reactivate the TPS enrollment portal for Venezuelan beneficiaries after a website glitch on the deadline day removed Venezuela from the designation list and blocked renewals. The order requires at least one extra day of access, four hours’ advance notice, and updates to DHS/USCIS webpages reflecting his ruling that preserves TPS through Oct. 2026 for those who re-register. DOJ disputes noncompliance; DHS blames a technical issue. The ruling follows the administration’s push to end Venezuelan TPS and ongoing appeals.
